Jujitsu

This art has Samurai origins and was originally part of a military training technique, teaching its practitioners to disarm warriors in order to defend themselves when on the battlefield. Unlike many martial arts it doesn’t incorporate any spiritual exercises. Its literal translation means “the art of softness” or “way of yielding”, and yet its techniques, including kicking, kneeing, choke holds and throwing were all developed around the principle of using an attacker’s energy and momentum against him, rather than directly opposing it.

To many, due to being forged, tried and tested on the battlefield, Jujitsu provides the basis of a complete self-defence system.
