Self Defence
Whilst training in martial arts is often a path to self defence skills, many people do not wish to undertake the study of an entire traditional system and simply wish to gain some understanding of self defence techniques. Self Defence classes will typically involve teaching participants some practical and effective moves to escape a situation and protect themselves.
Many of the techniques can be found in the martial arts, however self defence classes will focus on scenario based training with less focus on exercise and conditioning.
Self Defence systems often contain training in practical, quick to learn techniques, avoiding complex and florid movements which are deemed to be unlikely to be effective in a stress situation. Avoidance of situations is also often a key focus.
